Obituary of Robert Arley Shaw

Robert Arley Shaw, "Bob", was born May 21, 1938, to Bob and Verna Shaw in Ontario, Oregon. Bob passed away peacefully October 13, 2022, at the age of 84 in a Boise hospital. Bob spent the majority of his life on the family farm in NuAcres/Parma; where they operated a dairy farm and grew alfalfa. Bob joined the Air Force at 18 and served one term, flying recognizance after the Korean War. With his first wife Bob had a son, Robert Rice. They later divorced. In 1963 Bob met the love of his life, Phyllis, at the Nyssa Corn Cannery, where he was the dump operator and Phyllis was driving corn truck. They were married in February 1965 in Winnemucca, Nevada. They made their home in NuAcres on the family dairy/alfalfa farm. Bob began driving truck in the 60's and drove for 40 years. Bob loved driving truck. He had a mind for people and places. You could have asked him last week about a truck stop in Nebraska and he'd tell you the intersecting highways and freeways. Bob never met a stranger. He loved visiting with people; over the years Bob made many friends on and off the road. When Bob wasn't on the road, he could likely be found shooting the breeze and telling stories at a local coffee shop or bar. Bob wasn't drinking whiskey or beer, but he sure had a hot cup of coffee or 5. Bob cherished his family over all other things, immediate and extended. He is survived by his children Robert Rice (Joy) of Dawsonville, Georgia; Dorothy Powell (Sean) of College Place, Washington; Wesley Shaw (LeeAnna) of Payette, Idaho; and Cary Shaw (Beth) of NuAcres/Parma, Idaho; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis, parents Bob and Verna Shaw, and brother Gary Shaw. His jovial laugh, onery personality and infectious smile will be missed. The family would like to thank the paramedic teams from Parma and Fruitland, along with the Boise St. Luke's ICU and 5 East staff for their care and compassion. To honor Bob's memory, donations can be made to the Payette County Extension 4-H program. Service Details.
