Obituary of Bonnie Jean (Tomsik) Myers
Bonnie Jean Tomsik Myers passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February, 9, 2024. Bonnie was born March 21, 1932, in Milford, Utah. She was the oldest child of Robert Ludwig Tomsik and Verna Bird Tomsik. She was joined by her sisters, Vera and Shirely and younger brothers, Ed and Gary.
Bonnie had a wonderful childhood in Milford. She loved to roller skate and to ice skate on a manmade pond, to sled and ride her bicycle. She played hide and seek and kick the can under the light pole across the street from her house. Milford had a bowling alley, swimming pool, movie theater and a library. When she was older she worked at the movie theater where she ushered and took tickets (25 cents). She also helped with the bookwork at her father’s service station. Bonnie graduated from Milford High School as the class valedictorian and was loved and respected by her classmates.
Bonnie was an accomplished pianist. When she was in the seventh grade she accompanied the high school choir and operetta. She continued to accompany soloists, choirs and singing groups throughout her life. She spent many years playing the organ in church.
Bonnie married Ted Victor Myers and began raising their family. While living in Milford and then Minersville, Utah, Calvin, Steven, Scott, Jan and Melanie were born. In 1961 Ted and Bonnie moved to New Plymouth, Idaho, where Ted began dairy farming with his brother, Dale. Bonnie was never idle while working to care for her family and left a legacy of hard work. Bonnie resided on the farm for 57 years. She cared for her home and yard by herself for 21 years after Ted passed away. In 2018 she moved to Nampa to live with her daughter.
Bonnie had many talents including her music, gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting and flowers. You would never leave her home hungry. Ted and Bonnie were talented dancers and loved to dance. She shared these talents with her family and later others while working at the Eastside Florist and with Sue Bunce in her decorating shop. She loved to do family history and it brough her great joy. Mom could fix anything and if she didn’t know how to do something she would research and figure it out. She was organized and kept meticulous records of everything.
Bonnie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bonnie and Ted were sealed in the Boise Idaho Temple in October of 1994. She served in many callings in her ward and as an ordinance worker in the Boise Temple from May 2005 to July 2011. She loved and served her family and was there to support them in their activities and special occasions in their life. She loved to play cards and games with them. She was not happy if you beat her in Scrabble. She enjoyed playing the organ while her grandkids sat around her and sang.
